Phonecalls and Lullabies

Your Mama declared over the phone,

She has been covering Lennon,
Quickly I had to ask her, “Hon,
Must you chant in the afternoon?”

She told me a lit’l while ago;
You wail at noon with gusto;
Said you’ve a terrible mood swing;
I asked, “Is it in synch with your singing?”

“Bah, you, humbug,” she retorted,
The afternoon rays do reach the bed;”
“I’ll get you a new curtain next time;
Maybe it’s the sun, the fault is mine.”

Hanging up, I asked,“Which song,
Is it a Lennon with an easy tune?”
She said you love Til There Was You.
“Ok, hon, but please don’t sing it like Yoko.” (06/06/07. gq)
